FAQ

  • Do I need to be in shape before I start strength training?

Not at all. We’ll start right where you are. You don’t need to lift heavy to get stronger –  just a little more than your body’s used to. Your muscles and bones respond to small, steady challenges over time. That’s how strength builds, and that’s exactly how we’ll train.

  • I’ve never lifted weights before. Can I still do this?

Yes! Most of my clients are beginners when we start. You don’t need any experience, just a willingness to learn.

  • Am I too old to start strength training?

Definitely not. People in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond can all build strength, improve balance, and support bone health with the right training. It’s never too late to start – and often, it’s the perfect time.

  • What if I feel nervous or self-conscious about working out?

That’s more common than you might think – and it makes sense. Starting something new, especially in a gym, can feel uncomfortable. My job is to make that easier.

We’ll focus on building a strong foundation first, then adding challenge as you're ready. You won’t be thrown into anything you’re not ready for. We’ll progress step by step, in a way that makes sense for your body and your pace.

  • Where do you train clients?

I train clients in-person in Redwood City, CA. Most sessions take place at The Weight Room a 24/7 private training gym with space for focused, 1-on-1 work.

For clients who prefer a quieter setting, I offer a small number of sessions in my home space. If that feels like the right environment for you, just mention it when you reach out.

  • Do you train online?

Not at this time. I’m currently focused on working with clients in person here in Redwood City.

  • Can I strength train if I have osteopenia or osteoporosis?

Yes – and in fact, strength training is one of the most effective ways to support bone health. I tailor every program to the individual, with a focus on smart progressions, great form, and safety. If you have osteoporosis, I may ask for medical clearance or guidance from your doctor so we can build a program that truly supports your health and goals.

  • What happens in the free intro session?

We’ll meet in person for a relaxed, informative session. We’ll talk about your goals, go through a few simple movements so I can get a sense of how you move, and answer any questions you have. It’s a great chance to see if we’re a good fit.

  • What should I wear or bring to my session?

Just wear comfortable clothes you can move in, and bring a water bottle. That’s it.

  • How often do people train with you?

It varies. Some clients work with me once a week, others twice, and some follow a custom program on their own between sessions. We’ll find a rhythm that fits your goals, your schedule, and your lifestyle.

  • How much does it cost to train with you?

Pricing depends on the type of session and how often we work together. I’ll walk you through all the options during your free intro so you can choose what feels right for you.

You can also view my pricing here if you’d like to take a look in advance.
